My wife and I originally visited Embrace to show support for Pastor Adam, with no intentions of joining…after visiting and hearing his messages we are now excited and ‘onboard’ with Embrace. He speaks with sincerity and passion…and at the same time he would be the first to tell you that he has the same struggles that all of us go through. He is a great listener and is one of the first people I solicit advice from.
I first knew him as a “mouthy defensive lineman”, then as a great “karoake/improv partner” and “singing-flower delivery guy” and now as the “humble pastor/family man/friend” he is today!
I am looking forward to what the future holds with Embrace and excited for it’s potential with Adam as a leader.
My favorite Adam story all comes down to a “winged spawn of Satan.” The story goes like this: I’m lying in bed one night late last summer and am awoken by my wife screaming…THERE’S A BIRD IN OUR HOUSE!!! I quickly pop out of bed and approach the hallway outside my bedroom door and immediately witness this flying creature making loops through my kitchen, and into the living room. The time is now 1:30am. I fought my way through the kitchen and to the patio door. I opened the door, and after a couple of minutes, it flew out (I think). All order is restored in the Keyes House.
Three nights later, I am awoken once again to an ear-piercing scream from my wife. The bird is back. The time is now 10:30pm. It has now occurred to me, “Why does this bird always seem to fly loops in our kitchen/living room once all of the lights are shut off? And where is this bird in the daytime?” I again approached the hallway…saw this winged creature make one more loop, and then it was gone (as soon as I turned on the lights).
I am now convinced this black creature of flight is a BAT. This is the point where Stephanie (my wife) panics. The first words out of her mouth are “I’m calling Adam!” To this, I replied: “What is Adam going to do that I can’t do?” She didn’t have a good answer, but she insisted on calling Adam. Now the time is 10:35pm. She tried calling Adam’s cell phone…no answer. She called Becky’s cell phone…no answer. I know the reason they didn’t answer is because they were sleeping. However, Stephanie no more got done leaving a panic stricken message before Adam called back asking…”What’s going on?”. She informed Adam of our “situation” and his reply before he promptly hung up was…“I’m on my way.” He was at our house at 10:42pm in shorts, a t-shirt, and a tennis racquet in-hand, ready to help me fight my war. Adam Weber is not only a phenomenal pastor, but a good friend and wonderful bat hunter. What kind of person responds this way you may ask? And to this I reply…a saint.
I think the biggest testament to Adam’s character is that he can get along with me! I’m blessed to be on staff with Embrace and be under Adam but I’ll tell ya- we are 100% opposite! I am amazed at the fact that, though very different than me, his desire is to work together to see better things for God and His people. Adam has a huge heart for the people of Sioux falls and this church. He is very grace filled and patient. Our good working relationship is testimony!
I respect and admire Adam’s outgoing evangelism/people person mindset. He never seems to pass up an opportunity to do life with people. He’s so good at it too – I’m pretty sure that Adam is the only person I know that could have a conversation with a mute.
I’ve only known Adam a short while, but it doesn’t take long to recognize his genuine care for people. In many churches I’ve attended, pastors have often seemed unapproachable and separated from their fellow worshippers. One of Adam’s strengths as a pastor lies in his ability to show that although he is a pastor, he is still “one of us”…still working through life one day at a time like the rest of us. It’s nice to have a pastor as open and as “everyman” as Adam.
You should probably add “Mouse Hunter” to his list of…hobbies? Accolades?? Not sure what to call it, but around the same time last summer that the Keyes’ were immersed in the Battle of the Bats, this Weber household discovered mice in their garage. Upon seeing the first mouse, we lined the walls with traps and bought boxes of poison. However, one sneaky mouse missed the traps, and I discovered him just chillin’ in the corner, sitting on its haunches, clearly affected by the poison, yet certainly ALIVE. I couldn’t go near him—I couldn’t even park my car in the garage, let alone walk by that mouse to put the lawn mower away. Knowing Hugh was still at work, and unable to “take care of it,” I call Adam. “Do you have a gun?” I ask. He does—a pellet gun. That’ll do. I explain the mouse situation, and Adam is over in a few minutes, armed and loaded, ready to shoot that mouse. (Sorry, animal lovers, but it was already drugged…we just sped the process along.) Bats, mice, Satan beware. We’ve got Adam Weber.
Adam may be a goofball/bat & mouse hunter, but more importantly he is a very caring and genuine friend. It amazes me how many people talk about how connected they feel to Adam after he delivers a message. Adam is the type of guy that not only wants to share the word with you, but also walk right along side you while you walk your walk.
It is truly a blessing the Lord has provided Adam to the church!
Adam and Embrace have had a very uplifting effect on my life. Whether its at lunch or visiting after church, you have to be in a good mood after being around Adam. Thank you Adam for helping me back to the right road.
Wow… These are some of the nicest things I’ve ever been told… I thank each of you for these words of encouragement… I treasure them.

I have seen such a transformation in this guy over the past year. He’s still the good-spirited goofball, but he’s also a gifted spiritual leader for a great number of people including myself.
There are so many times that I sit in the sanctuary thinking “This guy is real.” I believe him when he’s preaching. I don’t wait for the punchline or feel like I’m being fed something. I truly think he is an imperfect vessel that has been filled to the top with the most glorious words and spirit.
Adam is a blessing as a pastor.
