Events of Embrace Church

Adam will do a short explanation of why we're doing what we're doing while we eat pizza and then we'll put together our little "outreach" packages. Then we are going to walk around the near by neighborhood (a lower income neighborhood that will hopefully be blessed) and hand out any of these items that people may need for FREE - no string attached. This may literally open the door for conversation, etc... We are going to put the church "business" cards on them with a personalized note as well so that they can look up the info about the church.

Once we deliver everything, we are going to meet back at my house and share how it went. It will be a neat experience! Hope to see you there!

So Run Event?

Okay, so we're not actually going to run. But like the father in the prodigal son story, we're going to "run" to the people of Sioux Falls in hopes that when we reach them (come to their front door) that in some way they would experience the embrace of God. You mean we’re going door to door? Yes… crazy huh? But it’s different… we’re not asking for anything, rather we’re giving them something for free… They don’t have to talk with us, answer any question sheet, etc… it’s simply “We’re from a church called Embrace and we’d like to give you…” They may ask “Why?” Our response: “We just wanted to serve you” or “show you the love of Christ”… etc. They may ask you more (you won’t ask them) and if so, there’s a conversation… They may say “oh”, take something, and that’s it… next door. It may end up bringing people to the church, but that’s not our goal… Our goal: To simply show people the love of Christ. A person’s life is not going to be changed by light bulbs and paper towels… but if they’re able to see our goal behind it… then it’s possible.

I have to answer one thought...“I’ve never talked about Jesus to anyone in my life”, “I’m not sure what I even believe”, “door to door, are you nuts?” If you end up in a conversation with someone, you’ll know what to say… More than anything, it’s honestly going to be a blast… there’s something fun about giving things away… you’re not trying to sell anything… you won’t be doing it alone… EVERYONE is perfect… if you don’t feel comfortable going up to a door, we’ll need your help elsewhere (tying business cards onto paper towels or something). Just come!
